2 days until our Paleo/Crossfit Anniversary! ++Paleo Emeals Pinwheel Steak++

Yesterday I picked up some pictures from the store that I had printed for our Paleo Anniversary party on Friday.  When my boys were looking through our pictures from 6 months to a year ago they were amazed!  "Mom, you were so chubby!"  "Oh my gosh look at dad."  Smooth E was getting in the car he said, "So mom, when are you going back to Crossfit?"  I think our anniversary has become a moment for all of us to take a look back at the past year.  Appreciating where we've come from and seeing the future of a healthier family going forward.  Which reminds me, school starts in 8 days.  I've been thinking a lot about the boys and their meal choices during the school year.  Both of them have lost weight through the summer and I really think it is because of food choices at home vs school.  Please note that neither of my boys are overweight and both are healthy and active.  We had a conversation at dinner last night that they with school starting they woul

3 Days until our Paleo/Crossfit 1 year Anniversary! + Paleo Emeals Ratatouille Recipe Share!!!!

We're getting back in the groove of things around here!  Mr. and I have both been stepping back into the Box, Paleo without cheats or special snacks are happening, and we're getting back on a good sleep schedule!  All of this is happening just in time to celebrate 1 year since we've started our Paleo/Crossfit Journey.  It feels good to be on the journey with the glimpse of looking into the future of a continued lifestyle!  Paleo is not a diet.  It's not a pill or drink that you consume for a trial number of days to help you loose a predetermined amount of weight.  Paleo Lifestyle has allowed us to change how we view food.  We know now that Food is a Drug.  Eating can still be pleasurable but it's about fueling your body and giving it the nutrients it needs to function properly. If you already have started your Paleo Journey than you know exactly what I am talking about.  If you haven't started your journey but are considering it feel free to use us as resource

4 Days until our Paleo/Crossfit 1 year Anniversary!

Party planning is happening this week at the Smith Household.  We can't wait to celebrate our new lifestyle with all those that have supported us along our journey!  We're planning games, decor, and having a Paleo-friendly pitch in!  Hoping the weather holds out for our shindig! I celebrated my birthday with my family during our weekly Sunday dinner last night.  I got some cool unexpected Crossfit gear.  Stuff that will definitely push me out of my comfort zone and help me "SHINE."  In cased you missed it, Shine is my focus word for this year. My mom made these fantastic Paleo Brownies for my birthday.  My mom rocks. And because everyone seems to like before and "during" pictures, here is side by side from last year and this year.  Notice I have a new baby niece to grace my lap! Birthday 2013 Pre Paleo/Crossfit Birthday 2014 Paleo/Crossfit (Almost 1 year) It's gorgeous here today!  Enjoy every minute!  And remember...Food is a Drug #

6 Days! Mr. and will be Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year!

I am in party planning mode starting today!  Mr and I are having a Paleo/Crossfit celebration with all our supporters to celebrate 1 year of Paleo/Crossfit!  Mr. is only 4 lbs away from goal!  I find myself slowly chipping away at mine.  I know I will get there.  I've had a string of bad days through the summer.  Too many "cheats." This past week I've learned that my stomach can no longer handle "fried" anything.  And unfortunately I learned the hard way twice within the past week (insert sad face).  It was a great reminder though for me about why Paleo works for me and my body.  It helps me fall in love all over again with this lifestyle and how it works in our lives. I celebrated my birthday this past week.  A friend of mine was an inspiration for a new tradition that I started.  Every January she picks a focus word for the year.  She makes it her focus for the year through prayer and life.  I decided to pick a focus word for my birthday.  I never paint

18 Days until we've been Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year!...10 reasons why you aren't Paleo

Mr. and I have been chugging along in our Paleo world.  We both need to get back to the Box...and it will be happening this week. In the meantime, we've had lots of questions and conversations with friends and acquaintances about our Paleo lifestyle.  There has been a common theme.  So here is our list on why you can't be Paleo followed by are call on BS! I don't cook.   Mr. and I are sorry that you don't cook.  That doesn't mean that you can't cook.  Chances are you have some understanding on how to cook somewhat.  Our take is, that you choose not to cook.  Anyone can learn to cook.  It takes trial and error.  All recipes come with directions.  Cooking is as easy as following directions.  Plus with the internet and Youtube videos, you are even able to see demonstrations and look up terms you may not be familiar with.  You can cook but you will have to learn! I don't like vegetables. We don't even understand this really.  It's hard f

4th of July weekend wrap up!

What a fantastic Holiday weekend!  I love the Fourth of July!  It is my favorite holiday!  This year was a great weekend spend with family and friends.  There was also delicious Paleo food!  Here's a recap! We were headed out of town after Mr. got off of work on Wednesday and so we had dinner on the go.  Italian sloppy joes with carrot-jicama-cucumber salad!  Super yummy! The next morning at the lake I started my day off with the jog around the lake and followed it up with this yummy breakfast.  Mr. was at work and so the boys rode their bikes along side me during the run.  Great start to our Fourth Weekend! It was a misty morning but the boys didn't let that stop them from building their slip and slide.  Of course I slip and slide is never enough...so they put three together! They always bring their BB guns to the lake with them.  This time we found stuff to make a "gun range" for them to shoot pop cans.  They are getting better and better

Welcome WISH TV viewers! **PLUS an emeals recipe share**Southwest Burgers with Guacamole**Grilled Squash and Bell Peppers**

Hi to our new readers from WISH TV 8!  We are glad to have you and are excited you are interested to know about how a Paleo Lifestyle can improve your lifestyle!  In less than a year Mr. and I have gone from this: July 2013 TO THIS!!!! JUNE 201 4 I started blogging about our experience when we started to see and feel the dramatic results.  I often say that food is a drug, a phrase that I stole off of Coach Sam from Crossfit Seymour .  Since starting the Paleo lifestyle my face cleared up from adult acne within a week.  I saw significant change in my blood work numbers done every October.  My monthly cycles regulated after years of PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome).  My energy level went way up after the first couple of weeks of detox.  Mr. and I live a much different lifestyle than we did a year ago.  We've been able to do little things that were before burdensome like walking up and down stairs, household chores, and being active with the bo
