48 days to go until Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year...AND we made it to the lake!!!

This morning was a bit crazy.  I had to work early for a couple of hours and get a special project up and going.  I came home to help get the car packed up and loaded quickly thereafter.   We had a couple hour drive and then we made it! Mr. Dad lives on a lovely lake during the summer.  The boys have been having fun today mowing grass, fishing and hanging out plus there also may have been some tubing involved. I'll upload pictures to this blog when I blog from home tomorrow but I've had a fantastic food day with our usual weekend  breakfast, a yummy snack at a fantastic grocery store, plus made a fathers day feast for Mr and his dad...Paleo version of course: Ribeyes, Italian cabbage, Roasted Vegetables,  and sweet potatoes.  For dessert we picked up a new to us fruit called a Fonzy Melon...it was pretty yasty! So grateful for the 24-36 hours to relax before the craziness of next week begins! Food is a Drug #Paleo

49 Days to go...and I'm exhausted...

Stress causes food triggers for me.  I could have really used food to sooth anxiety for me today...but I didn't.  I almost went to bed without blogging tonight.  It's been an incredibly long day that I'm happy to say that I survived.  Tomorrow will be long as well...until we head out of town....and then I'm hoping I can take a few deep breaths and celebrate the "Fathers" in my life.  Paleo style of course! I only was able to eat one meal today at home....which got me thinking...next week will be similar.  Since choosing the Paleo lifestyle, we've also chosen to eat almost all our meals at home.  During the work week I pack my home made lunch (usually leftovers).  I know after my experience coming home from our cruise this past winter that water weight gain may be an issue.  I just think that's important to keep in perspective heading into a crazy busy week.  Next week, lunch meals are catered in.  Because I had control of the food...

50 Days to go...another thought on overcoming a craving...

Today's run felt great!  My last run felt horrible.  Often times once I get to 1.5 mile head trash starts to take over.  Today was not the case.  Around lunch time I was able to squeeze in a 2.5 mile jog.  It was one of those jogs that I felt like I could have kept running but because of time constraints stopped at 2.5. While I was jogging it hit me, what a great way to squash a craving by exercising.  Cravings can sometimes be overbearing and mind numbing.  So instead of grabbing for that instant gratification, try moving.  Take a walk or jog, stretch, shoot baskets with you kids, throw a frisbee, take a bike ride; just find what it is that takes your mind off of food and enjoy the moment. I can only share breakfast and dinner pictures today.  I didn't have time for a snack and lunch was 1/2 cup of leftover sloppy joes before my run.  Needless to say, by the time I had dinner I was soooo hungry! 51 Days to go...Overcoming cravings Paleo Style!

I failed to photograph all my food today.  It was same ol' same ol'.  Breakfast was 3 medium eggs, bacon, and 1/2 an avocado.  For lunch I had the rest of the sloppy joe and apple carrot salad from this week.  For supper I had smoked brisket and green beans at a restaurant.   Today was tough on the cravings.  Before I left for work this morning I threw together a coffee cake (from a box) for the boys for breakfast.  Their babysitter got it out of the oven after I left.  So when I came home this afternoon I could smell the deliciousness!  It instantly turned on my cravings!  I instantly felt a cheat coming on but I knew that I wanted to stay on track.  Before I headed out to do shopping for my big project I packed a HUGE snack.  A little bit over everything to fill me up and keep me on track.  I had about a 30 min. drive and so I took my time enjoying this snack.  Craving avoided.   I even could smell...

52 Days to go until I've been Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year! +Paleo Chopped Salad

We got off to a rocky start this morning...my summer babysitter didn't show up and so I took the boys with me to work for a couple of hours.  She was fine and I later found out that it was just a miscommunication about a prior commitment...but for a small fraction of time it sent me into a spin of hurry up, everyone getting dressed, grabbing gear and in the car.  Luckily the boys had a sports camp this morning so I was able to drop them there after a couple of hours at my office. My big project is still looming over my head...and as it quickly approaches I am hoping and praying that everything comes together in the end.  Life would be much easier if everyone did what the committed to do and showed up for meetings as scheduled.  Unfortunately for this project that's been far from the truth.  At this point...I am going to hope for the best! Mr. had made everyone breakfast before he left this a.m. Luckily I was able to slide mine in a "to go" container before...

53 Days to Go...headed to 1 year Paleo/Crossfit + another Kid-Friendly Paleo Emeals share!

This week is going to be a "fasten your seat belt" kind of week.  Next week is a really big program that I am in charge of at my 'day job.'  This week I'll be tying up a lot of loose ends and making final preparations for next week. Today was a super fast day.  The boys and I started off our day with a quick breakfast with my BFF from college.  He was in town this morning and we met him at Cracker Barrel.  Can I even tell you what I would have done for a bite of Smooth E's French Toast or G Money's Pancakes?!?  This is what I had with a cup of coffee (or 4 cups but whose counting?): The boys headed to sports camp and I in to work (on my day off).  After I picked them up we went home for a quick lunch.  I didn't have much time or any real leftovers in the fridge.  Ham roll ups it was.  It's probably not perfectly Paleo...but I do buy gluten free off the bone variety.  Which reminds me, check your Aldi's.  A couple weeks ...
