6 Days! Mr. and will be Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year!

I am in party planning mode starting today!  Mr and I are having a Paleo/Crossfit celebration with all our supporters to celebrate 1 year of Paleo/Crossfit!  Mr. is only 4 lbs away from goal!  I find myself slowly chipping away at mine.  I know I will get there.  I've had a string of bad days through the summer.  Too many "cheats." This past week I've learned that my stomach can no longer handle "fried" anything.  And unfortunately I learned the hard way twice within the past week (insert sad face).  It was a great reminder though for me about why Paleo works for me and my body.  It helps me fall in love all over again with this lifestyle and how it works in our lives.

I celebrated my birthday this past week.  A friend of mine was an inspiration for a new tradition that I started.  Every January she picks a focus word for the year.  She makes it her focus for the year through prayer and life.  I decided to pick a focus word for my birthday.  I never paint but found it a nice outlet.  My word for the year: SHINE!

This year I will be reaching goals!  I will be running my first 5K!  I will be using my life to shine!  This will be a good year!

What a perfect way to celebrate with all those that have used their own lives to support Mr. and I.  Little lights of inspiration along our journey!

10 Things Couples Starting their Paleo Journey Should Know!

Mr. and I started our Paleo Journey pretty much together.  I can't say that it was a smooth beginning.  We definitely have learned a lot through the process and continue to do so.  Here's a quick list of 10 things you should know when starting the Paleo Journey as a Couple!   1. Support from your partner! Support from your partner is key to your journey.  It's been one of the best things we've done as far as our relationship is concerned.  We've literally lost a person (130 lbs) in 6 months.  It's not all been pretty but we are a stronger TEAM because we've been on the journey together! 2.  There's No 'I' in Team! Teamwork makes the dream work!  I couldn't have done this without Mr. rolling up his sleeves and pitching in.  We both like to be in the kitchen but neither of us is fond of the clean up afterwards.  We do teamwork with cooking when we are both home.  This way it doesn't fall on one persons sh...

10 Simple Ways to get your Kids to Eat #Paleo

10 Simple Ways to get your Kids to Eat # Paleo ! 1.  Have a chat!   My boys were 8 when we started our journey.  My husband and I had a chat with them about changing our eating habits.  Luckily they had taken a food class at our local library and they knew the importance of fruits and vegetables.  The obstacle became explaining to them why we weren't using the My Plate method as that is what they learned.  The My Plate method is the government recommended program on nutrition. 2.  Start with 1 meal a day!   When we started and after our family discussion we thought they should be all in.  That did not happen.  Mr. and I would make them Eggs and Bacon for breakfast and pair it with a different fruit each day.  On the third day of eating eggs for breakfast G money sunk his head in his hands and wanted to know why he just couldn't eat oatmeal.  It took me a little while to get into the egg habit too.  You  ca...

Lining up the Ingredients...

Everyone has their own style of cooking but today I'd like to share how I am able to fly through recipes quickly.  I am not sure when I started doing this or how long I've been doing it, although it's been a good while even before Paleo.  I usually cook with recipes.  That's just how I roll and am much more comfortable that way.  What helps me make sure I don't skip steps is to line up my ingredients as it calls for it in the recipe.  This helps me do 2 things.  First I make sure that I have everything the recipe calls for before I am in the middle of it and find out that I can't make it.  Plus it also helps me fly through putting it together.  Sometimes, when I have time in the morning I line up the ingredients like I did here for my Spicy Turkey Chili.   When I come home from work and I am getting ready to make a recipe or marinade I still tend to line the ingredients up.  It seems to make the process go smoother when I am p...
