4th of July weekend wrap up!

What a fantastic Holiday weekend!  I love the Fourth of July!  It is my favorite holiday!  This year was a great weekend spend with family and friends.  There was also delicious Paleo food!  Here's a recap!

We were headed out of town after Mr. got off of work on Wednesday and so we had dinner on the go.  Italian sloppy joes with carrot-jicama-cucumber salad!  Super yummy!

The next morning at the lake I started my day off with the jog around the lake and followed it up with this yummy breakfast.  Mr. was at work and so the boys rode their bikes along side me during the run.  Great start to our Fourth Weekend!

It was a misty morning but the boys didn't let that stop them from building their slip and slide.  Of course I slip and slide is never enough...so they put three together!

They always bring their BB guns to the lake with them.  This time we found stuff to make a "gun range" for them to shoot pop cans.  They are getting better and better with their aim!

We had leftovers for lunch that we brought with us to the cabin.

We were able to borrow this "practice skiing" thing from someone on the lake and they boys had fun 'skiing.'  But they grew bored of it after a while and we knew it was time to let them try the real thing.

For dinner we had curry pork and vegetable skewers on the grill with a grilled peach and tomato salad.  Those grilled peaches were fantastic and I couldn't understand how they would be good paired with a tomato but it ended up being one of the most talked about dishes of the weekend.

Neighbors across the lake getting ready for the Fourth.  I wish this picture did it better justice but just imagine a clear view with a smooth lake reflecting the lights as you sit around a camp fire.  Perfection!

Do you see the red white a blue for my fourth of July breakfast?  I know the green kind of messes it up but avocados at breakfast have become a staple for me!

It took a lot to get ready to ski but we were able to get the boys up or at least tried before the lake got too crazy busy.

Lunch was fantastic!  We loved the bacon burgers a couple of weeks ago so much that we made that our 4th of July lunch with roasted zucchini, squash, and onions.  We also had sweet potato fries, paleo slaw, and watermelon!

This was our perfect day on the boat!  And yet another reason I love the 4th of July!

You can barely see it...but that cabin in the trees is where we stay.  Mr's dad lives there during the summer and we LOVE LOVE LOVE to visit him at the lake! (Florida in the winter isn't a bad visit either)

G money calls "selfies" with more than one person and "usie." So here is our family #usie.  Smooth E is in the back ground.  He wasn't down with our coolness.

Dinner was fantastic!  T-bones, leftovers, and stir fried veggies!

Mr. in his element...captaining with vessel!

This is our sweet puppy Lilly Rose!  She's a lake girl for sure!  Well...as long as she doesn't get wet.

Saturday tubing!

Then we had to get home because we were sending these two off for a week of Church Camp!  So we came home Saturday evening and did laundry and got them all packed up for camp on Sunday.  It is their first time away from home with out family for an extended time.  We all did fine...no tears were shed!

Then we headed to a quieter Sunday dinner at my mom's.  She such a Paleo queen.  Dinner was so yummy and I may have eaten more than I should.  Pork burgers, salad with Paleo dressing, homemade Paleo pickles and onion, bacon wrapped sweet potatoes, quacamole, and peppers.  Followed by this amazing Paleo 4th of July Dessert!  I love her!

Then I got to play with this cute chick and her boyfriend before calling it a weekend!  Feeling full, loved, and blessed!

5 Simple Steps to Understanding Paleo for Beginners

Just 6 months ago Mr. and I were beginning our Paleo Journey.  We started at our local Crossfit Gym Crossfit Seymour .  Friends of ours own the gym and they were having a 30 day Paleo/Crossfit Challenge.  Lucky for us Coach Sam had a 30 day meal plan prepared that he shared with us.  We didn't have the stress of deciding what we were having for dinner.  He had recipes that he and his wife had gathered that he shared with us.  We did the bulk of our cooking on Sunday, which he called our Sunday WOD (workout of the day).  It was at the end of our 30 day challenge when Mr. and I decided we wanted to adopt the Paleo Lifestyle that I found myself stressed and anxious about what to do next.   The answer for us was Emeals . I've written a post about emeals you can find here:  Paleo Emeals .  This was a great starting point for us that took a lot of the planning and stress off my shoulders.  It still allowed me to learn more.   1.  Paleo Food List It's important to k

10 Things Couples Starting their Paleo Journey Should Know!

Mr. and I started our Paleo Journey pretty much together.  I can't say that it was a smooth beginning.  We definitely have learned a lot through the process and continue to do so.  Here's a quick list of 10 things you should know when starting the Paleo Journey as a Couple!   1. Support from your partner! Support from your partner is key to your journey.  It's been one of the best things we've done as far as our relationship is concerned.  We've literally lost a person (130 lbs) in 6 months.  It's not all been pretty but we are a stronger TEAM because we've been on the journey together! 2.  There's No 'I' in Team! Teamwork makes the dream work!  I couldn't have done this without Mr. rolling up his sleeves and pitching in.  We both like to be in the kitchen but neither of us is fond of the clean up afterwards.  We do teamwork with cooking when we are both home.  This way it doesn't fall on one persons shoulder!  We

Just keep moving

I've reset again and have been following my Paleo Lifestyle for over 30 days.  I'm walking, lifting, and eating right! Again, the first 2 weeks were super tough as I detoxed from the sugar and carbs.  But I'm well on the other side of that now and so glad! I do have a little secret to my morning routine that's kept me moving even when my muscles and joints are soar.  I'm sharing this with you and an affiliate link through Amazon. I've added this collagen powder to my bulletproof coffee and can tell a difference.  Some of the added benefits beyond my joints can be found in my fingernails and hair growth.  I'm on my second container of this particular brand. In the morning add 1-2 tsp of coconut oil, 1-2 tsp of grass fed butter, and a scoop of this Collagen Powder to my Magic Bullet and fill the rest with coffee.  10-15 second of blending and it makes a wonderful fat filled coffee that allows my intermittent fasting to happen. After my long morning walks
