33 Days until we've been Paleo/Crossfit for 1 year PLUS our garden update!

I went to bed on time last night!  I didn't have too much trouble falling asleep however I didn't get up on time.  Have I mentioned how much I love to sleep?!?  Seriously, I haven't slept that much in a long time but I had 11 hours under my belt.  My plan for the morning is to wake up during my normal Crossfit time in the morning and head out for a run AND I will be headed to bed again tonight at 10 p.m. with hopes to be asleep by 10:30 p.m.

I have no pictures of my food from today.  Breakfast was eggs and avocado.  Lunch was leftover grilled chicken thigh and tomato watermelon salad.  Snack was carrots with 1/2 avocado and a handful of blueberries and grapes.  Dinner was at my mom's and was taco salad, guacamole and peppers, Paleo style doritos, and Mexican cake (fabulous!!!).

Remember when we planted this garden?

We've recently been able to harvest a few things.  A couple of cucumbers and a tomato so far.  We are really close to harvesting sugar snap peas, squash and zucchini and bush beans.  This is what she looks like now.

I think I am most excited to be growing spaghetti squash as I haven't ever grown it before.  But it's doing well (picture above on the right). and flowering like this:

This morning we had an active day.  We headed to Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge and walked and ran a couple of trails with the boys.  I didn't take a ton of pictures as I was focused on swatting away mosquitoes :D  But I did capture one of the boys before we jogged a trail.  It was a great morning getting out and stretching our legs and getting fresh air!

Tomorrow is grocery store day and we're headed out of town for half of the week....so it's going to take some planning....UGH!  Food is a Drug #Paleo!

10 Things Couples Starting their Paleo Journey Should Know!

Mr. and I started our Paleo Journey pretty much together.  I can't say that it was a smooth beginning.  We definitely have learned a lot through the process and continue to do so.  Here's a quick list of 10 things you should know when starting the Paleo Journey as a Couple!   1. Support from your partner! Support from your partner is key to your journey.  It's been one of the best things we've done as far as our relationship is concerned.  We've literally lost a person (130 lbs) in 6 months.  It's not all been pretty but we are a stronger TEAM because we've been on the journey together! 2.  There's No 'I' in Team! Teamwork makes the dream work!  I couldn't have done this without Mr. rolling up his sleeves and pitching in.  We both like to be in the kitchen but neither of us is fond of the clean up afterwards.  We do teamwork with cooking when we are both home.  This way it doesn't fall on one persons sh...

THE SYMBOL OF A RING

When I started my journey I had something I wanted to accomplish that I probably didn't tell anyone.  I have shared it with a few people after the fact.  In my weight gain and all the things I couldn't do, wear, or accomplish one thing bothered me more than anything.  I couldn't get my wedding ring on my finger. I've always had large hands.  My fingers are puffy and it had been years since I had gotten to wear my wedding ring.  Many mornings it would leave a pit in my stomach and I can't tell you how many times I would try hoping that some of the water weight had made my fingers small enough to slip it on. Our anniversary is in September and a year and half ago I had contemplated having it resized so I could wear it again.  I didn't have a real goal or the gumption to loose weight.  In the end, I was too embarrassed to walk into the jewelry store and admit defeat.  When we began our journey this past August the first thing I started to do ...

Stepping Out In Support of Paleo

My goal is for this Blog to help someone make the switch to Paleo and ultimately live a happier and healthier life.  I am stepping out in support of the Paleo lifestyle because it has changed my life and my husbands life for the better.   Please know that I am not a writer.  My "style" if you will, of writing is more conversational than gramatical and I am o.k. with that.  I hope you can be too because I think I have a lot of great experience from learning how to actually live the Paleo lifestyle to share! For now, however, I'd like to share with you my dinner from last night.  I've just returned from an extended trip and my Mr. has been taking care of grocery shopping and meal planning and does it much differently than me but I fused our efforts and made Maple Mustard Chicken Thighs with Cabbage Apple, Bacon, and Walnut Side Dish.  This recipe was taken in part from www.emeals.com  and changed to what we had on hand.   EMeals  is my go...
